I use this GUI setup in pretty much all cases. Although now with a 3rd window for combat in the lower right corner and 4th hotbar for gadgets, grafts and such

playing in 1900x1200 btw

didn't feel like taking a new screenshot, so this is from like 3 months ago. but look, theres tech!

I used to just use mostly default stuff, but after customizing it a bit I really like this setup.  Keeps everything important sort of centered in the screen to keep track of easier.  (Click for larger version.)
